First Rescue Flight
Today my wife Kim and I completed our first of what we hope is many rescue flights. Angie, Sue, and Michelle with Mini Mighty Mutts set it up for 3, which became 4 dogs when they saved an older Cocker Spaniel yesterday.
Sue was gracious enough to drive them down to Carlsbad for us. We loaded up our 182RG with the 3 smaller dogs in crates, and Koda, the large senior they saved yesterday riding belted in a harness.
With great weather for flying, and the help of the staff at Western Flight in Carlsbad, then from the folks at Glendale Aero Services in Arizona, we got all 4 pups to a place where they can be happy.
We are grateful for all of the help today, as well as to Pilots N Paws for organizing these types of flights.
Thank you. We look forward to doing the next one.
Update: “Thank you for planning on sharing our story. I didn’t mention that I’m an airline pilot, and hadn’t flown general aviation in over 20 years. PNP honestly is what inspired me to get back to flying smaller airplanes, and I even went so far as to buy one to put in our Flying Club so that I’ll be able to do these kinds of things. So thank you for giving me something positive to focus on, and a way to use my skills to give to those who need help.”
