Mission 60

Mary Brooks sent in the following information on their 60th mission:

Nov 26th, 2017 Todd and Michelle (our daughter) started our 60th Pilots N Paws Rescue at Moontown (3M5) airport. This was Michelle’s second Pilots N Paws Mission. Weather was cool with sunny skies. Todd and Michelle took off to Walker county airport to meet Tracy Raburn. There was pit bull mix Zippy, black Shih Tzu, yorkie mix, yellow lab, and a brindle chi weenie. Michelle and Todd had a hard time leaving the yellow lab behind. Our family is very fond of Labrador retrievers.

After loading the airplane with all passengers, Todd and Michelle took off to Jacksonville Craig airport. Weather was good, but airplane traffic was busy. Air traffic control vectored our airplane all around the Jacksonville area avoiding other traffic. Obviously ATC didn’t get the memo we had VIPs aboard (Very Important Pups!) Todd and Michelle met with Dr. Donna Shannon who would fly the dogs the last leg of their trip to Tampa Florida.

This mission was to rescue dogs and to drop off our daughter after spending a week helping out with my knee recovery.

As with all freedom flights, this one was particularly complex and chaotic (organized chaos), but ended very successful without much deviation or delay. We appreciate how hard PilotsNPaws staff, the volunteers, and the flight crews work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, and weather.

Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash.
