It is officially that time of year where transports via flight in many areas of the Southwest become difficult if not possible due to the high temperatures.

It was crazy hot  (110°) in Chandler, Arizona on WED June 12th.  Pilots N Paws pilots Derek Heikes and Kim Bemis flew Sam from Chandler, AZ to Carlsbad, CA on a rescue mission. Pilots N Paws pilots Derek Heikes and Kim Bemis grabbed Sam, and flew him back, to milder and cooler temps in southern California.  Thank goodness, the return flight was smoother than the flight, there.  #BootsBrigade773R (#BB36C, today). Sam had alone issues, and kept wanting to jump into the front seat, despite wearing a harness.  Kim had to sit in back with him to keep him company.  Sam was the 131st pup Derek and Kim have transported for Pilots N Paws….of all breeds and various rescue groups. Big shout out to them!

This rescue was a major team effort all coordinated by CBRR&R member-volunteer and Southwest Co-Regional Director Beth Richards.  Thank you Lauren Dube and Labrador and Friends for committing to take Sam.  A big thanks to  Sammye Leflar’s for her amazing networking skills and refusal to let Sam become another causality of a high-volume and high-kill shelter New Mexico.
