Chance, Chelsey, and Their New Families

Chatham County NC Animal Control had a report of a stray mother dog who had a litter of puppies. The mother was actually feral and no one could catch her and she had evaded humane traps that had been set. The fear was that if the puppies reached a certain age and not been handled by humans they would end up feral as well.
Animal Control was able to rescue the puppies and then called Tysor Veterinary Clinic in Siler City, NC and asked if they would take them in. The clinic replied with a resounding yes and within an hour had six hungry puppies to bottle feed! A couple of the veterinary assistants with the clinic took turns taking them home every evening so they could get their nighttime feedings for about a week and then they were switched over to a combination of puppy food and puppy milk supplement. After that they were off and running and growing like weeds.
The two pups were brought to Pilot Andrew Zeneski and his wife Anne for their freedom flight to Tri-boro Animal Rescue in Butler, New Jersey. Chance and Chelsey were adopted fairly quickly. “There are so many stray dogs that end up in our small county shelter that there is a lot of competition in the adoption arena,” said Becky Norman the adoption coordinator for the clinic. “We have had dogs that have stayed in our adoption program for over two years before we find the right home for them. We are so thankful to Tri-boro and Pilots N Paws for helping us out with Chesley and Chance and finding them their forever homes!”
