Daisy packs up, puts on her Cowboy Boots, and moves to Texas
April 12, 2014
Murfreesboro, TN
Mission – Murfreesboro, TN to Houston, TX
Passenger – Deaf Catahoula Daisy
Flight Plan
Murfreesboro to Vicksburg
Flown by Jim Carney
Vicksburg to Houston
Flown by Julian Sanchez
Daisy was found in the Murfreesboro Shelter. Since she is deaf and not very adoptable, she was placed on death row. However, Blackjack Rescue coordinator Sharon Bryant went into action had Daisy pulled and placed into a foster home provided by Kim Bradley. With everyones hard work they were able to find Daisy her furever home with the Delony family in Houston, TX. This rescue was extra special because the Dolony family were at the airport to greet their new family member. Julian told me his arrivial with Daisy and to see the Dolonys excitement “was a very precious moment”.
Thanks goes to
Sharon Bryant , Blackjack Rescue.
Kim Bradley, foster mom.
The Delony family for adopting Daisy who is a special needs dog since Daisy is deaf.
Another dog saved.

From the family:
Dear Pilots n Paws,
We just want to tell you how much our family appreciates the time and service given by both Jim Carney and Julian Sanchez this past Sunday. They flew two legs from Tennessee to Texas nonstop beyond a quick stop to exchange Daisy, a young deaf Catahoula, who was languishing on death row in a Murfreesburo shelter. The shelter would not allow her on the adoption floor due to being too scared as well as deaf. Her shelter picture was very discouraging and heartbreaking.
Sharon Bryant, of Blackjack Rescue, Jim, and Julian made Daisy’s rescue happen in record time. She is now thriving at our home, living the good life, because Sharon, Jim and Julian went the extra mile to get her here. Jim has stayed in touch with us checking on Daisy and has put a CD of her flight pictures, along with a book in the mail for us! Julian was nothing but big smiles thanking US when he arrived with Daisy! They were both a blessing and a great example for our six year old son, Aidan, who dreams of being an animal rescuer/marine biologist/”fish farmer” one day, as well as our fifteen year old teenage daughter/FFA member to be, Skylar, who was not able to be with us last Sunday, but has been very involved with caring for Daisy since she arrived.
Our family, very suddenly, lost our deaf Aussie rescue, Bruce, on March 4th due to illness. We were devastated. Our decision to adopt Daisy was to give another dog the second chance that Bruce had in life to carry on his legacy. I’m including photos of Daisy’s flight and ride home home with her new family and some fun ones showing how much she is blossoming in just a few days. The last two pictures are of Daisy in the shelter and her freedom ride leaving the shelter.
We greatly appreciate the service Paws n Pilots provides to save so many animals, and we are especially grateful for the joy of our newest family member!
Thank you,
James and Michelle
