Furever Homes by Christmas

Knowing that I’d be going home with my fiancée to New England from Virginia, I wanted to help transport some rescues. Unfortunately, we’d be driving rather than flying, but it was still an opportunity. Robin M. from Finding Great Homes Rescue contacted me asking if I could transport Mia, a 20lb Corgi mix to New Jersey, and Paul N. from Delaware asked if I could transport Dixie, a 35lb hound to Massachusetts.

On the way home
We drove to Manassas Airport and linked up with Dave B. who flew in Mia from North Carolina and then started driving north, stopping in Delaware to pick up Dixie from Paul N. Once we had both dogs onboard, we drove up 95 towards New Jersey. During the drive, Mia preferred to sit in the front seat with my fiancée and I, while Dixie curled up on the backseat. We stopped in Secaucus, NJ to pass off Dixie to her new mom, Traci, and her family.

And later stopped in central Massachusetts in Holliston to deliver Mia to her new mom, Sharon.

All in all, an easy trip. Although we’d rather have flown it than drive, still felt great to get these two pups out of the shelters and to their furever homes in time for Christmas!
