Gilbert’s Flight to SNAP Cats
I was fortunate to be able to do another Pilots N Paws flight for the amazing group SNAP Cats (Special Needs Are Precious) in Santa Rosa, CA. Gilbert is a special needs kitten who has some neurological problems similar to cerebral hypoplasia, wobbly cat syndrome, and was at the was at the Amador county animal shelter. Gilbert, like other special needs animals, has no idea there is anything wrong – he’s full of energy and just wants to play.
The shelter employees fell in love with him but knew he needed the special care and knowledge that SNAP Cats could offer. They were so attached to him they were concerned about the risk of being on the road with bad drivers for such a long trip but were happy to let him travel in the safety of an aircraft. Gilbert was in his carrier for loading and takeoff but then had to be out and be on our laps enroute, he was a handful for my neighbor Stacy who came along to help until he finally settled for a nap between us. He decided to be on my lap to review the airport diagram for Santa Rosa as we got closer and was a hit at the Sonoma Jet center. Thank you Darryl and SNAP Cats for taking in these wonderful special needs cats and to Pilots N Paws for being the connection between pilots and these amazing rescue groups!
