Their Story on Susie’s Senior Dogs via Blount Co Shelter/East TN Boxer Rescue
(near) KNOXVILLE, TN: Hamlet (left) and Veronica (right) are 8 year old boxers who were dumped on a the side of the road in rural Tennessee. They need all the help they can get in finding their future. A good life where humans are going to treat them with love, kindness, and respect.
Both pups are dependent on each other, but especially so for Veronica as she is deaf and relies on Hamlet to be her ears. Both pups are extremely friendly and passed their shelter’s “SAFER” test with flying colors. Hamlet loves everything that walks this earth, however, Veronica prefers Hamlet to be the only dog in her life. She loves all kids and adults, but she wants to find a home where she and Hamlet are your main squeeze!
Shelter rescue coordinator wrote, “We have a pair of senior boxers, Veronica and Hamlet, that we desperately need to find a home for. It’s so sad to see them sitting in our shelter. They need to be adopted together. Veronica is deaf and relies on Hamlet to help her.
Both of these lovely dogs were dumped off on a rural road a few miles from our shelter, in Maryville, TN. They are about 8 years old.
Veronica, the white boxer is deaf. Hamlet seems to be her helper. She is very friendly to people, but the only dog she cares for seems to be Hamlet. She gets growly when other dogs approach her to play or sniff. Great leash walker–she loves to go for walks! She has an exterior, defined skin mass on her rear leg. Not sure of its significance. She is also heart worm positive and has broken canines.
Hamlet is also about 8 years old. He is very friendly and good with other dogs. Nice boy on the leash. Very calm. Hamlet also has broken canines and is heartworm positive. He has some exterior skin masses hanging from his belly–they are well defined and of unknown significance. He also seems to have an unstable knee, but he doesn’t let it interfere with his walks.
I would say no on [living with] cats. I believe both dogs would be good with kids–Hamlet passed safer testing and Veronica did fine with all aspects of the testing except when she met the helper dog.
I’m hoping that these two can find a home together where they can live out their lives.”
