Derek Heikes & Kim Bemis were back in the air, this time to help out a couple Huskies.

Bruce is a Husky rescued from a situation of severe neglect.  He should have been about a 60 lb dog, but when the rescue got him he had been starved down to 35 lbs.   They nursed him up to a healthier 45 lbs.   Another rescue in Nevada run by a great guy named Chris had Bruce brought out to him, where a friend of his adopted Bruce.  Both men met them at Henderson, and Bruce was whisked away to his furever home.

Yolo is another beautiful Husky.  They picked her up in Van Nuys, CA and took her to St. George, Utah to her new furever home.  Kim and Derek were running about 30-45 minutes late on this one, not horrible, but not on time.  Unfortunately they’d forgotten about the time change between SoCal and Utah, and had Yolo’s new family waiting for an hour and a half.   The pilot and copilot felt horrible, but the truth is the greeting party included great people and was just ecstatic to get their new girl.

Both of these dogs were amazingly friendly, beautiful creatures.   Derek writes, “It’s been a truly uplifting experience to take part in getting them and so many others like them to homes where they will know comfort, and love.”
