Lloyd the Weimaraner is Finally Home

So much action to take in at this place.

So much action to take in at this place.

Lloyd the Weimaraner is finally home, and boy it’s been a journey!  Lloyd was found running loose on an Indian Reservation in South Dakota with another dog.  The reservation does not have an animal shelter, but some kind soul transported Lloyd and his running partner to the Humane Society in Sioux Falls.  The HS in Sioux Falls is a “no kill for space” shelter and contacted Courtnee Mulroy who is very active in Wonder Weims Rescue.  Wonder Weims is based in St. Louis but has an active satellite operations throughout the Midwest, including South Dakota.  I was pleasantly amazed to find out that they have taken in nearly 240 dogs this year alone and, because they go the extra mile, have an awesome adoption rate.

Lots going on out that window, too.

Anyhow, back to Lloyd.  Lloyd was driven to Kansas City where he spent a night with Lowell Davis and his Weimaraners in Kansas City.  Lowell brought him to me, and I flew him to Peoria, Illinois where I met up with Pablo Maurelia and his wife, Kristin.  This was Pablo’s first PnP flight, but I’m sure it won’t bet his last.  Lloyd settled in to each airplane like he was born to be an airport dog.  Pablo then flew to Lafayette, Indiana where Lloyd was met by his new dad Brian.  His forever home was only minutes away.

The pictures and video 018.AVI – YouTube that Brian posted say more than a words ever could.  It could be said that transports and adoptions like this were “just meant to happen”.  Maybe, but like so many dogs, the selfless work and acts of kindness along the way are the glue that binds it all together.  I just feel privileged to be a part of this incredibly worthy organization.  By the way, someone captioned the picture of Lloyd looking at himself in the mirror beautifully: “I’m too sexy for my fur, too sexy for my fur…”

I'm too sexy for my fur.

I'm too sexy for my fur.

Blessings to the many people that made it possible for Lloyd to find his home.

I love this story! Wonderweims rescue DOES go above and beyond! I had adopted a weimie from them in the past and hope to do so again in the future. I would love to foster down the road but unfortunately my schedule prevents me from doing so. Perhaps some day 🙂 It is so heartwarming to know that there are people out there willing to help with transport like this, it’s what helps make great things happen!

  3. Thank you so much PilotnPaws! We couldn’t do it without you! You have helped so many Weimys make it home. A big Weimy kiss!

  4. Thank you Pilots n Paws! Youre doing an amazing thing helping these homeless animals get out of shelters and into loving foster homes, rescues and even forever homes. You make vast distances in miles seem more doable and open a whole new world for these animals! Saving a life one at a time!

I just wanted to thank you for all that you do for these wonderful dogs. I adopted a weim from Wonder Weim Rescue last year and he’s been the joy of my life. I am so grateful for people like you who make it possible for people like me to have the joy in my life from my dog. Thanks to all of you and God bless!

  6. Tonya, Lloyd’s running buddy is Hannah. I am fostering her up in South Dakota she is currently being treated for heartworms, and she has a tumor on her face that needs to be removed before we move her around or put her up for adoption. She is a PB Weim as well! 🙂

I had the joy of transporting Lloyd to Kansas City to Lowell.what a treat! He got lovins wherever we stopped, even voted greeted a airforce pilot in Kansas it didn’t matter who you were he wanted some love and “atta boys! “. He was a great co pilot napped with the kids and demolished 2 double cheeseburgers like they were pills, and left the pickles as evidence. He’s had a good boy and so glad I could help him on his long journey to his new loving forever home. You did good buddy!

My wife and I had the honor of being the lucky people who got to take Lloyd home. We picked up Lloyd in Peoria and flew him to his new home in Indiana. This was our first PnP flight and definitely not our last. Lloyd was great.
