Milly and Carrie’s VIP Treatment With Pilots N Paws

Milly and Carrie – were both owner surrenders to the Vance Shelter in NC.  Milly had demodex mange, as did Carrie, but not as severe.  They left the shelter on the transport to NJ on Jan. 23, 2015 and Mahesh picked them up at Sky harbor airport in NJ on Sunday Jan. 25, 2015 and flown to Buffalo, NY. From there, volunteers with Underground Railroad Canada transported them to the Toronto area.

Carrie was spayed and treated for her mange and found her forever home less than 2 weeks later.  Milly is about to have her definitive skin scrape today, and if she remains negative for mange she can be spayed and find her forever home.  She is such a wonderful dog she may actually never leave her foster home.

The first picture is not very clear but it is the most dramatic picture of what she looked like upon arrival.  Her head was covered in open wounds that were infected and she was missing hair on her chest, legs and stomach.  It took several baths to get rid of the dried blood that was attached to the remaining fur.  She must have been so uncomfortable and in such pain, but she was such a happy and well behaved dog.  Carrie fared much better.  She was not crazy about other dogs at first but she was great with Milly on the transport so we knew she could be with other dogs.  She now has dog friends that she plays with and is a very happy and spoiled dog.
