Min Pins from South Texas to Denver

Two miniature pinscher pups were looking for a ride from Freer in south Texas to their rescue in Denver.  The transport plan ended up taking many different shapes.  First a flight to San Angelo, TX and on to Midland to catch ground transport, then a flight to Dallas, TX again to catch ground transport, and in the end the two pups really got lucky.

The trip almost didn’t get started when the connection in San Angelo didn’t materialize.  A last minute change had the flight re-routed to Dallas where coordinator Joan had several connections and could make short-term fostering happen quickly while having a few days to arrange getting the cute guys to Amarillo in order to catch the ground run to Denver.

Tony with Little Red and Blackey

The journey started with their foster Tony and a three hour car ride from Freer, TX.  He met pilot Tanya Card at Stinson field on the south side of San Antonio.  Tony had fostered the pups for a little over a week, but he had mixed feelings to see them go.  On one hand, he knew they were headed for new hope in Colorado, but on the other hand they had snuggled their way into his heart in a very short time.

The two mini pinschers were loaded into the baggage area of the small 2-seat RV-9A for their hour and a half trip to the Dallas area.  Jane and crew were right on time to pick up the dogs from the airport.  They’d stay in Dallas a few days before their next move.

Pickup in Dallas

The coordinator kept working on logistics to get the dogs to Amarillo when their lucky break appeared.  The two were able to catch a flight with Gabrielle in a very sweet Cessna 414 and flew the last leg in luxury.  They had plenty of company with several fellow rescues on board.

Not THAT’s a step up!

From the streets of south Texas, to a caring foster, to a long car ride, to a 2-seat airplane, to a luxury flight, these two min pins sure had an interesting road to their new lives.  Thanks to Missouri Min Pin Rescue in their quest to find new forever homes and all the transporters, fosters, and coordinator.
