Mission 56
Todd and Mary Brooks sent in the following story on their 56th Mission:
September 24th, 2017 Todd and Tim Knueven started our 56th Pilots N Paws Rescue at Moontown (3M5) airport. Weather was warm with sunny skies. Todd and Tim took off to Walker county airport to meet Tracy Raburn. Todd and Tim grabbed a pair of sheppard mix cuties each and loaded them in our airplane.
Momma was transported to our airplane but she was very skittish about leaving her puppies. Tim got the pups back out and let Momma dog know the whole family was going, which helped us load her in the airplane.
There were 5 more chi terrier mix puppies that were transported to our airplane, crate and all. Once aboard Todd and Tim took off to Bainbridge, Georgia KBGE. They were meeting up with Dr. Donna Shannon DMV who would finish the transport to Orlando.
As the clouds built up during the day, the ride home was bumpy. At least the pups didn’t have the same rough ride, or there may have been even more accidents! There was one of the liters of puppies that made a very big smelly mess. Just part of saving these little fur babies.
As with all freedom flights, this one was particularly complex and chaotic (organized chaos), but ended very successful without much deviation or delay. We appreciate how hard PilotsNPaws staff, the volunteers, and the flight crews work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, and weather.
Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash
