Pilots N Paws

Mission 63

April 8th 2018 Todd was able to combine flight training and a Pilots N Paws mission. Daniel Morrow was the student and was his first Pilots N Paws mission. They started our 63rd Pilots N Paws Rescue at Moontown (3M5) airport.  Weather was cold 34 degrees and Todd had to warm engine before they could take off.

Rescuer from Huntsville drove to Moontown to drop off our first passenger an Eskimo dog. The dog was loaded and they took off to Walker county airport to meet Tracy Raburn. Todd and Daniel picked up a brindle dog with her 7 puppies from Tracy.

After loading the airplane with all passengers, Todd and Daniel took off to Donalsonville, Georgia to meet PNP Pilot Dr. Donna Shannon from Clearwater, Florida. Weather was good so they were able to practice instrument approaches in smooth air. The puppies appreciated the smooth air. Dr. Shannon flew dogs on to Tampa rescues. Flight was a great success. Puppies were saved, student was trained, and we have a new interested pilot in Pilots N Paws. Thanks, Dan!

As with all freedom flights, this one was particularly complex and chaotic (organized chaos), but ended very successfully without much deviation or delay.  We appreciate how hard Pilots N Paws staff, the volunteers, and the flight crews work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, and weather.

Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash.
