Moose to Montreal

Dave Sarver tells a great tale…Well, today I had to get myself out of the rack at 0400 in time to feed the pups and load Moose in the truck to meet the transport that will take him to his furever home with Karen Fisher in Canada! We salvaged Moose from a kill shelter in AZ and Pilots and Paws pilot Rich Hoover and his wife flew him here to Albuquerque. Ya Gotta hand it to these PnP folks they go above and beyond PLUS the extra mile time after time to help us with rescuing dogs, cats, turtles – you name it!

In this case Rich Hoover flew to Casa Grande to get Moose who is an 80# Chesapeake Bay Retriever, but, then could only get as far as Show Low AZ on the return trip East before weather forced him to land. Even the next day weather did not allow him to continue so he and his wife (these wives, are another group of real hard charging troopers, they give up life and family being drug from place to place all over the planet, by their husbands, they have my undying admiration!) RON’d [remained overnight] with Moose and then DROVE back to Albuquerque leaving their plane in AZ.

Then, they volunteered to fly Moose as far as Garden City KS as part of his transport to his new home in Montreal. BUT again, weather tossed a wrench into the works! And we had to cancel the flight. Undaunted, the Hoovers picked up the slack and are driving the route to Kansas to get Moose on his way. That will be about 15 hours road time plus probably an RON in Garden City. In addition to the PnP flight, Joan Nickum set up the rest of the transport to New York state. How she does this is a total mystery to me. Just looking at the run sheet for this trip, with all the driving, times involved, lay overs and routing, made my head hurt!

So Moose, here is hoping you enjoy your new home. You will have two munchkins to watch over and a great family overall. I will miss you that is sure. That wet slobbery ball spit into bed with me in the morning I will NOT miss but, you are a good dog!
