PNP mission HKS Jackson, MS to ILG Wilmington, DE
Thursday June 21st was a full day of flying from “can to can’t” in Malibu N4376A. Started early morning and ended late night at HKS Jackson, MS with stops in CRX Corith, MS, ILG Wilmington, DE and TUP Tupelo, MS. I picked up pup wrangler Amber Austin in Corinth on the way.
This Pilots N Paws mission was one I’d promised weeks earlier for Cathy Larsen of Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue. My door to door time was 18 hours with 13.2 logged flight hours. This was my longest PnP mission to date at 2,164 total miles with all the reroutes and weather detours.
Southern fosters Stacie Eagles and Tim Daniel delivered the 5 dogs to Hawkins Field at6:30 am.One basset hound, three basset mixes and one plott hound. They were great travelers and were warmly greeted on the ramp in Wilmington, DE by Valerie and the Tri-state volunteers as well as the ground crew at Fly Advanced FBO.
Dodged a lot of weather coming home with constant lightning to our north after dark on the more than 5-hour leg back to MS with 30-40 knot headwinds. Corinth was surrounded by bad weather and not an option on the return so we diverted to Tupelo and Amber had a friend drive her the 40 minutes back home. I refueled and departed Tupelo just ahead of advancing thunderstorms. The weather at home was clear though and I landed just beforemidnight.
