Poppie Waggles Her Way into Jan’s Heart from 700 Miles Away

Please, somebody just love me. You'll get more back than you can imagine.

Poppie is an exuberant girl who practically waggles out of her skin and loves to snuggle and get loves! She was picked up as a stray and athough her owners were found, they wanted nothing to do with her. (They most likely dumped her on the streets to fend for herself). Poppie was on the last day of her third and last chance before being euthanized when Jan adopted her. Poppie was held longer because the shelter staff loved her & knew she is a special girl–thank goodness because Jan found her and is the perfect adopter for Poppie!

Russell Fletcher made Jan’s day, month, and probably Christmas by delivering Poppie to her in Denver from the Houston, TX area.   He is just one of the many volunteers with Pilots n Paws.  Poppie  wan’t quite sure about the whole airplane thing and howled for the first five minutes of the flight. She ended up in a crate that was a little small, but it didn’t bother her and she curled right up. After the first few minutes, she went right to sleep.

The flight was very nice, not bumpy at all, but very cold. It was dark by the time Russell got to Denver. He found out later that his brother-in-law was tracking the flight via flightaware.com and even more wild was listening to Russell talk as he landed via www.liveatc.net.  It’s a fun way to still be a part of the trip even if you aren’t there.

Janet Pickard and Jan Hansen were so nice during the pick up and drop off. They are the ones who really deserve the thanks for saving this dog. The flight back was magical over the snowy landscape in the moonlight. The trip finally ended about midnight after starting off at 7am for an 8am takeoff.
