Rescue Flight #51: 88 lbs. of Puppy Love
I flew my 51st rescue flight the last Sunday in July. On the “cuteness” scale these 11 pups (all from the same litter) were off the chart. Pics include loading the dogs into the plane and the pups happily snoozing while waiting for the next pilot in the relay at Tappahannock, VA. This location (about 40 miles NE or Richmond) is a convenient transfer point for rescues headed to NJ / NY or north along the eastern seaboard. And in case you’re counting … we had two of the pups in our arms.
None of these dogs would be alive today had they not been rescued by Save A Dog A Day based out of Easthampton, NY. Their pregnant Mom was pulled at the last minute out of kill shelter in Perry, Georgia. It took a small village to get these guys all the way up to New York. Special thanks to:
- Keith Decker (Volunteer Pilot) who flew the dogs from Perry, GA up to Raleigh Durham, NC
- Shannon Irwin who picked up the dogs at RDU and drove them to Nancy Solum
- Nancy Solum who fostered the dogs overnight
- Rick Gutlon (Volunteer Pilot) who flew the dogs from Durham, NC -> Tappahannock, VA the next morning
- Erik Unhjem (Volunteer Pilot) who flew the dogs from Tappahannock, VA -> Long Island, NY
-PNP Pilot Rick Gluton
