Southern States Rescue Circuit

We know Scott Messinger can’t stay ground-bound for long…

Total adorableness! Brother and sister in their sweaters.

This trip was for Laura’s Hope Rescue, Boston Terrier Rescue of South Carolina, and Smoky Mountain Animal Rescue. The trip began in Aiken, SC, where we spent 2 rainy nights in a hotel room as the Appalachians were not safe to cross due to storms and low freezing levels. Our charges were 2 tiny sweater-wearing pups who were beyond cute, 4 boston terriers bound for the north, and 3 of the laziest bloodhound pups ever.

There's that underbite we all love in Bostons!

The story on the sweater-wearing pups was that their ownder didn’t want them and a neighbor heard him saying that he was going to ‘swing’ the pups to end their life…If you don’t know, don’t even ask. One of the rescue folks referred to it as the “mountain mentality”.

Another hard working rescue, Smoky Mountain Animal Care at smacf.com

Stops included Knoxville, TN, Baltimore, MD, Harrisburg, PA, and Wilkes Barre, PA. After the storms came good flying weather and the happy ending we so enjoy as new owners and fosters met us at each airport along the way.

Darlene Bakos from Smoky Mt. Animal Rescue with the bloodhound pup. Look at those paws!

Words aren’t enough to say THANK YOU to Scott and his friend who flew our 4 Bostons from Aiken, SC. I’m trying to find you a passel of dogs to fly, Scott. Only have 2 right now…

  2. Keith Decker says:

Thanks Scott. You set the example for the rest of us who rescue with PnP. I wish I had the deep pockets like you, but I do what I can in retirement on a fixed income!
    Blue Skies, Keith
