To Be The Man Who Flew 1,000 Miles

Most of us know the Proclaimer’s song, “I Would Walk 500 Miles,” and now you will know about our Pilot who flew 1,000 miles to save 10 puppies.

Thank you Pilot Jeff Spencer for sharing your story with us:

“Normally I try to keep my PNP flights to 6 hours or less roundtrip, but I decided to make an exception to save 10 beautiful pups from Alabama and Georgia.  My first pickup, a border collie mix named Prissy, was from rescuer Karen Jones in Auburn, AL.  I then flew on to Bainbridge, GA where I picked up 9 more pups from Beth Eck of the Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society.

Two hours and 10 minutes after takeoff from Bainbridge, I touched down at Tampa Executive and met representatives from several different rescue groups.  Thanks to Ewenity Farms, Florida All Retriever Rescue, Community Concern for Animals and the Lakeland SPCA for giving these pups another chance at life!  The roundtrip flight was over 9 hours and 1,000 miles but more than worth it for me.”

What a great story! Brought tears to my eyes with thankfulness for all the wonderful pilots who give so selflessly to help those of us who are desperate to get our dogs and cats into safe and secure homes and rescues. The work of Pilots-N-Paws is often the difference between life and death. Thank you, Jeff.

What a great story!!! Your unselfish act of flying these dogs to places where they can find homes will pay them and their owners so much more in love than the money & time spent making this mission. I wish there were more people like you Jeff. Good job!!

Jeff Spencer is such a wonderful and caring person. Tonight he just delivered 5 bichons to our rescue group, Small Paws Rescue (national organization) to the northern Atlanta area. He along with David Newton and Diane Dunkel (based out of Houston area) were able to get these 5 dogs to us for foster homes One of these dogs has been patiently waiting for 3 months for his foster home to become available.

These volunteers have made a huge difference in our lives and they will be blessed forever in our hearts.
