Flying Marty and Queen – Pilots N Paws Rescue Flight 8/22/14
Marty, a friendly Weimaraner mix, was on death row at the Rosenberg, TX Animal Control shelter near Houston. Marty had been accepted by a no-kill rescue group in Dallas, but he needed to be transported as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Queen, a sweetheart of a pit mix, needed transport from Arlington, TX (near Dallas) to Lake Jackson/Angleton TX (south of Houston); Queen had been pulled by Rebecca Quinn, a Dallas rescuer, from Arlington Animal Control right before she was scheduled to be put down. She had to get to her foster home and safety.
When possible, I like to fly pax both ways (twice the nose licks); we were able to combine the transports. At 8 a.m. on 8/22/2014, Marty was delivered to my hangar at Pearland Regional Airport by Renee McAnnally, a Rosenberg Animal Control officer. We departed from Pearland at 8:30 a.m. in N20223, making Arlington about 10:15 a.m. After a last hand/paw-shake and nose lick, Marty deplaned for his pick up. Departed Arlington at 11 a.m. after boarding Queen. We arrived at Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport in Angleton/Lake Jackson around 1:10 p.m., where Queen met her excited foster, Yvonne Rector-Miller. Thanks to all of those who played a part in saving these two precious and loving souls!
