Kentucky Animal Relief Fund & Pilots N Paws Work to Save Candy!
Candy, a 10 year old Chow mix, lived all her life with her family here in Kentucky. Her Mom died suddenly several months ago. Her Dad, who requires dialysis several days a week, had no choice but to move back to Colorado where he has family who can help him with his health issues. A KARF volunteer fostered Candy for several months, hoping we could eventually reunite her with her Dad. He missed her desperately and said she was all he had to live for. We knew we had to do all we could to get her there. A transport of that distance is not an easy task. We were having zero luck getting this long distance transport arranged. And then there was Jim….a Pilots N Paws volunteer and knight in shining armor. As luck would have it, he was flying to Colorado and offered to come by KY on his way to pick up Candy and take her all the way to her Dad!!
He took the photo of the two of them together once again. The rainbow in the background was quite fitting for this special occasion. Candy’s Dad called her foster Mom, crying tears of joy.
We can never thank Jim enough for his help. He made an old man and an old dog very happy. I can’t think of a better ending to a very long day. Our sincere thanks to all involved in this joyous reunion. We wish them many happy years together.
