Max’s Flight With PNP

Flew from Reno, NV to Santa Paula, CA to pick up ‘Max’, a 7 y/o Doberman male, who was turned in to the rescue after a divorce and the lady who had him couldn’t find a place to live that allowed dogs, especially Dobermans.  So, he was delivered to the Dobie Rescue in Fillmore, CA (next door to Santa Paula).  The Rescue found a home for Max with an attorney in South Lake Tahoe, CA.  Guy is a local who grew up in the area…his grandfather developed the airport years ago!  Very nice man, who will make a great new companion for Max.

Flight was 8.6 hrs of flying, and 757 flying miles.  Reno to Visalia for a short stop; Santa Paula to pick up Max; another short Stop in Columbia CA, then into SLT, and finally home to Reno.
Awesome trip.  Had to get back out of Tahoe and into Reno before dark…the sun was already setting as we landed.  SLT is at 650 ft, and at 7 pm still had a 7500 density altitude!  Bit entertaining on climbout…cleared the trees; then over the lake and up to 8000 ft to get over the pass and on to Reno.  Not bad for a normally aspirated 180 hp little airplane!
Looking forward to another mission.

Pilots N Paws is a volunteer organization. This would be a long trip and would be unlikely to be filled, but if you would like to post a transport request, you can do so on the forum boards: http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/, Ride Board: Animals Needing Transport. There is a FAQ section that will help you get started. You may also want to check into companies that relocate pets for profit.

Thank you so much for the work you do…for transporting dogs to loving adoptive homes.

In 2012, PNP pilot Mike Young flew my rescue puppy, Shelley, from NC to PA. I picked her up there and drove back to the Boston, MA area, where we live.

Cannot imagine life without her. We feel so, so lucky! And forever grateful to Chances Animal Rescue in NC, and PNP for making it possible.
