A group of animal lovers gathered on the tarmac at Kyle-Oakley Field Airport Thursday to send off three rescue dogs to their new home in Ohio.
Two puppies and one pregnant dog were picked up by a volunteer with Pilots N Paws Pet Rescue Service, a national non-profit organization that transports unwanted animals to new homes around the country. Representatives with the local group Lost But Loved Animal Rescue brought the dogs to the airport from Murray-Calloway County Animal Shelter.
The dogs are all Labrador retriever mixes, and they had been requested by Circle Tail, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, an organization that trains service dogs for people with disabilities and hearing dogs for people who are hard of hearing. The animals are provided at no cost to the disabled person.
