Prattville, AL to Mayfield, KY flight

On a cold February morning, they met at the Prattville, AL airport.  SEVEN animal lovers loaded into SIX cars, bringing FIVE special needs dogs in FOUR warm crates.  THREE different rescues worked together with TWO pilots to pull off ONE amazing adventure!
The passengers included 2 dogs from Randolph County Animal Shelter in Wedowee, AL.  Chance is a 10-12 year old deaf and blind Pomeranian who was seen hit by 2 cars before a lady could scoop him up and get him to the shelter to safety.  Miracle is a Chihuahua, less than 3 pounds, found wandering alone in the cold.  She had abscesses on her face due to severe dental decay and what little hair was still left on her body was coming off as the staff at RCAS tried to soothe her.  Meanwhile, 140 miles west of there, (2) 11 year old Chihuahua mixes were surrendered by their owner.  Wannabe Rescued knew they wouldn’t stand a chance at an already overcrowded shelter, so they took them in to find them a perfect home together.  These 4 dogs were headed to Viva Chihuahua Sanctuary in Mayfield, KY.  In South Alabama, Mackey, a schnauzer mix, was dumped, found, taken to a shelter, then rescued by Wag n Whiskers until they found the perfect forever home for him.   They all reached out to Pilots n Paws for help with transport.
After many tears, many pictures and many hugs, Paul Gardner got the first plane up and on the way by 8:30.  He was met by Joe Moss at 10:30, who took the 4 to Mayfield, KY, then returned to his home in Nashville where he delivered Mackey to his excited new Mom.
Updates on the pups come daily.  They are all happy, getting medical treatment, making new friends and feeling secure.  They eat well, sleep soundly and know that they are finally home!
