Throwback Thursday: Sincere Thank You
I would like to send my deepest heartfelt thank you to your organization and the two amazing wonderful pilots that responded to my transport needs Mr. Jonathan Miller and Andy G. Strickland.
I was truly amazed at how fast everything took place.
I have a Facebook page called Voiceless Angels and try to help animals in need. I posted Mittens for a month. She was only 6 months old and reprieved from death row twice.
My friend saw her picture and showed it to another friend who is a disabled veteran from Afghanistan who was looking for an emotional support dog. Right away he said “I want her!”
I didn’t know how I was going to do this rescue being she was in Georgia and we were in Florida but didn’t have any time as she was going to die Tuesday, November 26, 2013
I contacted a rescue in Georgia who told me I needed a rescue to work on my end in Florida. I couldn’t get anyone to respond to my plea for help until a nice lady from Pet Rescue by Judy in Sanford, Fl said she would help me.
I called the Georgia rescue back and they pulled her from death row that day and had her kenneled for me until I could arrange transport.
Next I said to myself “how do I get her to her adopter in Daytona Beach?”
I remembered Pilots N Paws from an airplane and hot air balloon show I went to many years ago at the New Smyrna Beach, Fl airfield.
I said “let me try and just see if this works.”
I knew it was the week of a Thanksgiving and didn’t think I would have a chance.
I checked a few hours after posting. I said to myself “Oh my I received a response already!”
Then another, and another. I was floored, shocked and so happy I didn’t know what to do and just cried (happy tears of course)!
It wasn’t even 4 days later and on the following Saturday, November 30th, 2013, Mittens was transported to us in Florida by two amazing wonderful pilots with the biggest heart ever!
With that being said I would like to give a huge heartfelt, sincere thank you to Pilots N Paws, Pilot Jonathan Miller and Pilot Andy G. Strickland who are my true heroes!
Mr. Jonathan Miller flew the first leg from Dothan, Al. to Atlanta and then to Thomasville, Ga where Mr. Andy G Strickland flew from St. Petersburg, Fl to Thomasville, Ga to transfer Mittens to his plane and bring her the rest of the way home to Sanford, Fl.
The generosity of the pilots using their time and the huge amount they spend out of their own pocket on money for fueling the plane to do a rescue just amazes me! I am at a loss for words and can’t thank them enough.
I have cried watching this whole rescue unfold!
I would also like to add that both pilots kept in touch with my by text thru out the flight and that the first pilot Mr. Jonathan Miller asked me to please let him know when Mittens arrived safely to her destination by Andy Strickland.
Not only are the amazing for what they do but are also deeply concerned about the animals well being.
I am forever grateful to all involved!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Michele Weise
Daytona Beach, Fl
P.S.
I’ve attached a few pictures of Mittens. One on death row. One the first time she felt loved, in plane on Jonathan Millers wife’s lap, in front of Mr. Millers plane, one of myself kissing Mittens and crying when I fist met her, and one in front of Mr. Strickland’s plane.
Note from Pilot after receiving Michele’s thank you:
I like to hear a happy ending to these flights that I do! It seems Michelle is overwhelmed with joy with the outcome of the pilots and paws mission, and more importantly Mittens is in good hands in her forever home!
I have attached a couple pictures of a pregnant mama dog that came from Tallahassee, FL and went up to Missouri. I had to divert a couple times due to weather but the ground transports came through and adapted to the situation and we got her to her veterinarian foster home in time to have the puppies.
Respectfully,
Jon, PNP Pilot
